Get to know the role As a valued member of our IDaaS-SRE group, you will play a pivotal role in the success of Okta. Join us as we revolutionize the tech industry, supporting billions-ish of authentications per month across our global customer base. Take the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure and collaborate closely with engineering teams, empowering them to onboard services reliably, securely, and at scale. Your expertise will be instrumental in modernizing existing workloads, automating manual processes, and driving sweeping velocity improvements through innovative tooling. With your expertise, we will push the boundaries of system robustness, security and scalability. In this role, you will • Be a core member of our esteemed on-call rotation, ensuring the seamless operation of our critical infrastructure. • Engage with engineering teams across the company, guiding and empowering them to adopt best practices for reliable and secure service deployment. • Collaborate on modernizing existing workloads, aligning them with our continuous platform improvements. • Identify manual processes and drive the development of cutting-edge automation tools to streamline operations. • Contribute to our mission of building a more robust, elegant, and scalable system through the creation of innovative tools, platform capabilities, and comprehensive documentation. • Demonstrate your expertise by responding swiftly and efficiently to production incidents, diving deep into complex systems failures to drive team and organization learning, and pushing forward technical and process improvements. We are seeking an ideal candidate who possesses the following qualifications • 2-3 years of experience successful SRE engagements, collaborating closely with engineering teams across a wide range of infrastructure domains. • Proficiency in distributed systems design, with a comprehensive understanding of failure modes, benefits, and potential drawbacks. • Familiarity with Kubernetes deployments in either AWS or GCP cloud environments, and the ability to tackle containerization challenges for large, complex workloads. • Extensive experience with configuration management tools like Chef and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. • Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages, particularly Golang, Python, Ruby or Java. • In-depth knowledge of various types of data stores, including both SQL and NoSQL. • Knowledge of emerging ML and AI pipelines, platforms, and components. • Familiarity with big data stores and streaming data pipelines such as Snowflake and Kafka.
